Admissions
Admission into Umutara Polytechnic shall be subject to a student being ready to study in English, French and/or any other language the Polytechnic may introduce in future.
To be admitted in the first year of the undergraduate programme in Umutara Polytechnic, one must have a National Examination Certificate qualifying him/her to go for Higher University with a minimum of 2 points and duly approved by the relevant authority or have other qualifications considered equivalent by the Polytechnic.

A student from another Institution wishing to be admitted into the 2nd year of study at Umutara Polytechnic University must have passed examinations in relevant and/or equivalent programmes in his/her previous year of study. Such a student must apply for admission before October of each year. In special cases, the Vice-Rector Academic, in consultation with relevant authorities of Umutara Polytechnic University, may admit a student who, with acceptable reasons, fails to meet the deadline of October.

No student from another Institution shall be admitted to the 3rd or 4th year of study at Umutara Polytechnic University.

UP has three faculties, school of business and Center for languages however, it is planning to add more faculties in future.
