Experience:
Professor Brierley founded Bayan College, the first university college to specialise in Communications and Media in Oman and the Middle East. Before that he was the acting Dean of Mazoon College, a university college specialising in ICT, Business, Accounting and English, during a period of rapid growth.
Professor Brierley has many years experience teaching Management, ICT and Technology at Bachelor’s and Master’s degree levels, with Mazoon College and Sheffield Hallam University in the Developing World and the Open University in the UK.

With 25 years in leading roles in industry, Professor Brierley has a wealth of experience managing complex information systems projects and operations to help organisations make better use of their information resources, upgrade their performance and meet the challenges of competition.

His background in information systems led him to be appointed as the country manager for the systems business of a major American company. With broad experience of telecommunications, he developed BT’s first group IT strategy. His leadership and application of the new e-Business tools contributed to the construction of one of the earliest Internets. His work with BT led to involvement in several countries with the preparation of their telecommunications sectors for privatisation and liberalisation driven by WTO requirements and loss of monopoly trading conditions.

He has had extensive experience in helping MNCs and SMEs improve their return on capital and customer satisfaction.
An information systems professional and chartered engineer, he played a leading role in the activities of the British Computer Society in the Middle East, being a co-founder of the Middle East Section itself and frequently chairing professional review panels.read more...
