Umutara Polytechnic has more than 3500 registered students (Both Undergraduate) as of January 2010. Female students compose 44.3% of the total student population. More than 200 students are yet to graduate from the Polytechnic There are more than 300 International Students at Umutara Polytechnic from over 4 countries in East Africa and Africa, making up 8.6% of the students population.
The University employs more than 100 staff on a permanent basis.
The University has 6 academic Units (4 Faculties and 2 Schools).
