The polytechnic Farm. UP farm is located in an area whose predominant economic activity is agriculture. This is healthy for both farmers and the institute as sustainability is guaranteed since both parties are interdependent. Location: Muvumba campus (animals) Next to Kinihira campus (crops) Started: Land gazetted as early as 2004 but stocked with animals in 2007

Agriculture & veterinary medicine.

Management
The farm is managed under the faculties of agriculture
and veterinary medicine. Its day today overseer is the farm manager, under whom are 4 herdsmen. The farm manager is A Vetrinary Doctor, with speciality in veterinary and agriculture

Positive community response
UP farm has since its inception enjoyed a positive community response as a result of the community
development programme whose impact on the community has been commendable. Besides,
UP exhibited social responsibility towards its clientele in its area of operation. This good will is an opportunity that Umutara Polytechnic will exploit to further develop its programs and enhance its growth.

Farm mission
UP’s outreach community attachment program has played a leading role in the development of the farm. Besides, the farm is also used for demonstration purposes, research/academic, and production.
